Saint Margaret of York was established in December of 1983 as a private, Catholic school to serve the growing population in Northeast Cincinnati. Fr. John Roettle was named pastor and immediately started recruiting volunteers to help build the parish. On May 6, 1984, the first Sunday Mass was held in rented space at J.F. Burns School.
Fr. Robert Obermeyer was named as pastor in August of 1984 after the sudden death of Fr. Roettle. The first permanent structure, the church, was dedicated on September 11, 1988. The parish school officially started in September of 1989, although Kindergarten had been taught at the parish since September of 1985. The first phase of the education center was dedicated in October of 1992, with additional phases added in 1994 and 1996.
From our humble beginnings, St. Margaret of York School has grown into a strong community of supportive and welcoming families.
